Andy’s childhood, as well as a time spent working at a school for orphans in Manhattan, gave him an understanding of the importance of education. He went on to become an English teacher in a deprived area of Manchester where he witnessed both social injustice, but also the power of teachers to make a difference. For the past 20 years Andy has worked in various schools and roles including leadership positions. His track record is one of school improvement, including leading Beamont Collegiate Academy to its first ‘Good’ Ofsted judgement and securing an £11million new build. As Chief Executive of The Challenge Academy Trust his aim is to ensure young people are provided with the best possible educational opportunities.
